Budget Speech 2081/82 :Finance Minister unveils annual budget of Rs 1.86 trl for FY 2024/025
Nepal’s Finance Minister, Barshman Pun, presented a budget of 18 trillion, 60 billion, and 30 million rupees for the upcoming fiscal year (FY) 2081/82 during a joint meeting of Parliament. This marks a 6.2% increase from the current year’s budget and a significant 21.56% jump from the revised budget.
Budget Breakdown:
- Total Allocation: 18 trillion, 60 billion, and 30 million rupees
- Recurring Expenditure: 11 trillion, 40 billion, and 66 million rupees (61.31% of total)
- Capital Expenditure: 3 trillion, 52 billion, and 35 million rupees (18.94% of total)
- Financial System: 3 trillion, 67 billion, and 18 million rupees (19.74% of total)
Revenue and Financing:
- Revenue Target: 12 trillion, 60 billion, and 30 million rupees
- Domestic Loans: 3 trillion, 30 billion rupees
- Foreign Loans: 2 trillion, 17 billion, and 67 crores rupees
- Foreign Grants: 52 billion, and 33 crores rupees
The budget also proposes transferring 4 trillion, 8 billion, and 27 billion rupees to state and local levels, slightly higher than the previous year’s allocation. This increase aims to empower local governments and support national development goals.
