Loksewa Aayog

The Public Service Commission (Nepali: Loksewa Aayog) of Nepal was established on 1 Asar 2008 (jun15 1951). It is the main constitutional body involved in selecting meritorious candidates required by Government of Nepal for Civil Service Vacancy. It is regarded as one of the most credible modes of recruitment. The Constitution of Nepal has regarded the commission as an independent constitutional body.

Loksewa Aayog Formation

According to Article 242 of the Constitution of Nepal, there will be a Public Service Commission in Nepal with a chairperson and four other members. The President appoints the chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council. The term of office of the chairperson and members shall be 6 years from the date of appointment. The chairperson and members may be removed from office if the impeachment motion is passed in accordance with Article 101 of the Constitution and the President resigns on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council stating that they are unable to perform their duties due to physical or mental illness.

The selection process

According to the Public Service Commission Procedure Act , 2066, the Commission will select suitable candidates by one or more of the following methods:

A) Open competitive written examination ,

B) open competitive experimental examination ,

C) choice ,

D) Interview and

E) Other methods prescribed by the Commission.
