Rastriya janagadana 2078 : National Census 2078 has started from Thursday. For the census, 39,000 enumerators and 8,500 enumerators have been deployed across the country. This is the first census after the implementation of federalism in Nepal. Earlier, the census schedule was postponed due to the Corona epidemic.
80 questionnaires have been prepared for the census. It is estimated that it takes about 20 minutes for a census to take a census of a family. According to Nevin Lal Shrestha, Director General of the Central Statistics Office, an enumerator has to count 12 households in an average day.
The census will start on Thursday with the census of the President, Vice President and Prime Minister. The department has stated that the census will be started by counting the chief minister in the state, town and village chief at the local level and ward chairman in the ward. According to him, all the seven provincial offices, 87 district census offices and 350 local census offices have been brought into operation. The house and household listing work was completed from last September 30 to October 30. A census will be conducted on that basis.
“All the data taken in the census remains confidential,” said Shrestha, director-general of the department. The slogan for this year’s census is ‘My Census, My Participation’. As all the preparations for the census have been completed by holding a press conference on Wednesday, the department has stated that all the enumerators will go from house to house on Thursday morning.
Unemployed youths who have studied all the enumerators ten times two have been included in this year’s census. Earlier, teachers worked as enumerators, but this year, some teachers have been hired as trainers, said Shrestha. According to the department, tablets have been used in six local levels of Kathmandu, including the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, for the census this year.
